About us

Welcome and thank you for visiting Big Bear Trailers & Outdoor – Trailer Sale, Service and Hire. We work with the top trailer brands to offer trailers for sale at our premises based just outside Peterborough. We hope you find what you are looking for, but if you don’t, please tell us. We are a small business and we care. Through listening to our customers we have expanded our product range , extensively, but the core ethos of the business remains the same – Quality Products and Great Service .

We are a family run business (Ian, Kate ably supported by Phil, Craig and Emma) based in Oundle, Northamptonshire, with a secondary site with viewings by appointment only in Beetley, Dereham, Norfolk. The impetus for the business came from nearly losing Kate to Stage 4 (Advanced) Lymphoma in 2014. We had two very young daughters at the time. Following our experience, there was a strong push (kick) to look at things differently and a real desire to be more local for us all.

Since then, we have grown significantly and expanded from originally just offering hire to now offering Sales, Servicing and Hire .We are exceedingly proud of our customers reviews and also to be approved dealers for the following brands – Anssems, Brenderup, Cheval Liberte, Debon, Indespension, Maypole, Moetefindt, Nugent, Overlander, SAS Security Products, Thule, Woodford and more.

'One instinctively knows when something is right' as an old advert used to tell us and this was certainly the case with Ian at Big Bear Trailers.I had asked a question about how I might use a trailer and Ian answered that although it was feasible he wouldn't recommend it - clearly jeopardising a potential sale. No flannel, no attempts to steer me to another trailer, just a straight answer to my question.Emails, then phone calls were exchanged and between us we found a solution to what I needed. Ian's honest approach and helpful attitude were refreshing and ultimately encouraged me to buy a suitable trailer with which I am very pleased.I would recommend Ian and his company without a second's hesitation.

With another major purchase made remotely in these Covid times, Ian was just fantastic at making sure we got exactly the trailer we needed, and fitted with all the right accessories. A most professional service from very knowledgeable staff. The showroom has available all varieties of trailers, allowing the opportunity to select the most appropriate system for individual needs. The hand over was completed very thoroughly. I even had an ongoing problem with the tow-bar, that had been passed as OK by the car supplier, rectified ! Thank you; it is a shame that I only need one trailer!

Without a doubt one of the nicest, most professional, knowledgeable, and helpful businesses I've ever dealt with. So much so that I chose Michael and Big Bear Outdoor over a much nearer business - my closest Brenderup dealer/retailer is 5 minutes away from my house. But my less than satisfactory experiences with them made me reluctant to part with near £1000 for a trailer. I had to travel a 150 mile roundtrip to get to Big Bear Outdoor in Oundle, but it was worth every minute and mile in order to give my business to these guys.Absolute pleasure to deal with. Wish I could give them 10 stars!

First rate trailers and first rate service, well worth the 240 mile round trip to collect and drop off the hire trailer. Needed one to to take one of my bikes to an annual owners club event in Poland involving A 2,000 mile round trip. I thought I wanted one trailer but Ia advised me on another which turned out to be excellent advice. will definitely be back again.

Excellent service. 250 mile round trip well worth it.EDIT: Just completed our first 350 mile camping trip with this trailer - excellent, no issues. Its surprising how much camping kit wi fit in this trailer. I highly recomend it.

Hire

Trailer Hire from Big Bear Trailers & Outdoor includes box trailers, car and motorbike transport trailers, horse trailers and general utility trailers. Trailer hire is offered on day hire, long weekend hire and we are also able to offer long term hire rates. Trailers will need to be collected and returned to our location in Oundle Marina, Northamptonshire.

Servicing

We offer servicing and repairs from our Oundle Marina premises. Our engineers are trained by the NTTA and we are fully insured. We service and repair all makes and models of trailers including Anssems, Bateson, Brendeup, Brian James, Cheval Liberte, Debon, Ifor Williams and Woodford. Recent repairs have included a simple full brake rebuild on a car trailer, through to a full rebuild of a horse trailer, including two new sides, a new aluminium floor and a new rear ramp.
